Description

Req ID: FEQ427R70

The Role

As a Senior Solutions Engineer in the Benelux Geo team, you will lead technical engagements for high-growth potential customers, owning discovery, solution design, and platform demonstrations. We are looking for a talented engineer/architect who is excited to expand strategic partnerships and grow Databricks footprint with these customers!

You are a builder who can code, architect, and present, combining technical depth with customer-facing skills to drive Databricks adoption. You will own frontline customer relationships and work with your Account Executive to develop technical strategies that expand platform usage.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Independently lead technical discovery and solution design for customer workloads spanning Data Engineering, Analytics, Machine Learning, and GenAI Engineering
  • Build and deliver compelling proofs-of-concept and live demos on the Databricks Platform that drive technical wins
  • Own frontline technical relationships with customer engineers, data teams, and technical leads
  • Develop account-level technical strategies in partnership with your Account Executive to grow platform consumption
  • Navigate competitive landscapes by articulating Databricks differentiation through hands-on demonstrations
  • Contribute reusable technical assets (notebooks, solution accelerators, reference architectures) to the broader SA community

What We Look For

  • Industry experience in data engineering, solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or a hands-on consulting role (preference for 3+ years minimum)
  • Proficient in Python and SQL with demonstrated ability to debug, optimise, and write production-quality code — live/vibe coding is a required interview stage
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing data solutions on at least one public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Working knowledge of distributed data systems: Apache Spark™, Delta Lake, or equivalent (Hadoop, Kafka, Flink)
  • Experience leading technical customer conversations — discovery, whiteboarding, architecture reviews
  • Familiarity with one or more: data engineering (ETL/ELT, medallion architecture, streaming), data science/ML (model training, MLOps), or SQL analytics
  • Strong presentation and demo skills — you will build and present a live solution during the interview
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Data Science or a quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience)

Note: This will be an office-based contract (Amsterdam), with a hybrid schedule. The offer contract will be set for an initial 12-month fixed term, with the intention to extend upon successful completion of the probation period.

About this role

Databricks is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to drive technical adoption across the Benelux region, working from Amsterdam on a hybrid basis. You'll own the full customer lifecycle for high-potential accounts—from initial discovery and solution design through proof-of-concept delivery and live demonstrations—partnering closely with Account Executives to expand platform usage. The role demands someone equally comfortable coding and architecting as presenting to technical stakeholders, with the ability to navigate competitive conversations by showcasing Databricks' differentiation hands-on.

You should have at least three years of industry experience in data engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting, with solid proficiency in Python and SQL. Hands-on familiarity with distributed systems like Apache Spark or Delta Lake, plus experience designing data solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP is essential. The ideal candidate brings working knowledge of data engineering patterns, ML/MLOps, or SQL analytics, and can lead technical conversations—whiteboarding architectures, running discovery sessions, and building reusable assets for the broader team. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience) is required.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Amsterdam with hybrid flexibility, with the possibility of extension following the probation period. The interview process includes a live coding component, so you should be prepared to demonstrate your technical capabilities in real time.
