About this role
Standish Management administers private equity, venture capital, real estate, and fund-of-funds operations for General Partners at various stages of growth. The Fund Controller role sits at the center of this work, managing fund accounting, capital accounts, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for multiple client funds. You'd collaborate with an Engagement Manager to oversee audit and tax processes, prepare investor capital calls and distributions, track portfolio company financing details, forecast cash flow, and maintain regulatory filings—particularly SBA forms for SBIC funds. The position requires local travel to client sites occasionally and the ability to juggle competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy across detailed financial records.
The role expects a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics and at least two years of public accounting experience, along with demonstrated competency preparing or reviewing fund financial statements under US GAAP. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. A CPA, experience with partnership accounting, knowledge of loan mechanics and NAV calculations, or background in private equity or venture capital would set you apart—as would familiarity with QuickBooks and third-party fund administration software.
Standish offers standard benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k); flexible vacation; and a year-end office closure. The position is full-time, in-office in Chicago, with a salary range of $85,000 to $105,000 based on your background and qualifications.
