DLR Group's Dallas office has an opening for a Project Accountant.
Position Summary
As a Project Accountant, you will be a key financial partner to project and business leaders, providing insight, guidance, and support throughout the lifecycle of our projects. You will help teams understand project financial performance, maintain accurate project data, support invoicing and revenue forecasting, and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen project profitability and financial outcomes.
This role combines project accounting expertise with strong business acumen and relationship-building skills. You will collaborate across teams, sectors, and regions; help promote financial best practices; and serve as a resource to both project leaders and fellow Project Accountants. You will also have opportunities to mentor team members and contribute to the continued development of our project accounting function.

What You Will Do
- Partner with Project Leadership to analyze project financial performance, identify trends, and support project profitability
- Coordinate monthly project financial reviews, including billing progress, percentage complete, revenue projections, project budgets, and related financial considerations
- Set up and maintain accurate project information in Deltek Vantagepoint, including contracts, compensation, fee distributions, and consultant information
- Review project contracts and work plans to ensure financial information is accurately reflected in project systems
- Support timely and accurate client invoicing by reviewing timesheets, labor reports, reimbursable expenses, direct expenses, and other project financial information
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, coordinate collection efforts with Project Leadership, research payment discrepancies, and communicate payment status as needed
- Review consultant invoices and subconsultant agreements, coordinate fee allocations, and support consultant payment inquiries and documentation
- Prepare, review, and respond to project financial reports, questions, fee adjustments, and other accounting-related requests
- Mentor and support Project Accountant team members and contribute to the onboarding and development of new team members
- Collaborate with Financial Services, project teams, sectors, and regions to promote consistent financial practices and identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in project accounting, billing, accounting, financial administration, or a related role
- Experience supporting financial processes such as invoicing, accounts receivable, project setup, budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research financial questions and identify appropriate solutions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with project leaders and internal teams
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial and project information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field
- Experience in an architecture, engineering, design, or professional services firm
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or a similar project-based financial management system
- Experience mentoring, training, or supporting the development of other team members
