About this role
At Cannondesign, this Architect IV role centers on leading technical design work and coordination across multidisciplinary teams on moderate to complex projects. You'll own key design and detailing responsibilities, work directly with engineers and consultants to integrate building systems, and communicate design intent clearly to clients and stakeholders. The position also involves field site observations, business development participation, and mentoring of junior staff—balancing hands-on technical work with broader leadership contributions.
The role requires a licensed architect with at least eight years of professional experience, strong command of Revit, Bluebeam, and related software, and the ability to work with significant autonomy on projects with evolving requirements. You'll need solid knowledge of building codes, sustainable design integration, and quality assurance processes. The position is remote-eligible but may be based in either the Chicago or Pittsburgh office, with a salary range of $90,815 to $113,468 plus discretionary bonuses and a standard benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and 401(k).
This is a fit for an experienced architect ready to step into a leadership capacity within a larger practice, particularly if you're interested in design excellence, client collaboration, and mentoring others while maintaining technical depth in your own project work.
