About this role
Olsson's Site Design team is looking for a civil engineering intern to contribute directly to real projects spanning retail, commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional development. Over the summer of 2027, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and staff, moving beyond classroom theory into hands-on design work. Your responsibilities will include assisting with construction plan creation—site layout, grading, stormwater, and utilities—primarily using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, along with research, technical writing, and occasional site visits.
This role suits someone with strong AutoCAD fundamentals (Civil 3D experience is valuable but not required) who is comfortable in collaborative environments and detail-oriented about technical work. You'll need solid communication skills, proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office, and the ability to problem-solve independently while working as part of a team. The internship is based in Fayetteville, Arkansas and requires in-office presence.
Olsson emphasizes a people-centric culture focused on growth and meaningful work. Interns gain exposure to diverse project types and the chance to see how design decisions affect real communities, which can clarify your direction in civil engineering before graduation.
