Business Development Representative (Denver)

About the role

Fivetran and dbt Labs are looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) in Denver to start the conversations that win us our next customers. As part of the Sales organization, you will work side by side with our Sales Directors and Account Executives to break into new business accounts and book meetings with decision makers at every level.

This is primarily an outbound role. Most of your time goes to mapping accounts, finding the right people and starting conversations, with a share of inbound leads mixed in. You will also help shape our outbound strategy and team processes as the team grows.

Location: Denver, CO (hybrid). This is a full-time position, and candidates must be located in Denver and able to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

What you'll do

Outbound prospecting (the core of the role)

  • Map target accounts and identify key decision makers, from C-level to data analysts.
  • Run personalized outreach by phone, email and LinkedIn, starting from pre-built cadences by industry, persona and use case and tailoring them to each account.
  • Run team plays, such as Snowflake customer and SAP use cases.
  • Learn what data challenges prospects face, explain what we do for companies like theirs, and secure sales-qualified opportunities for Account Executives.

Inbound leads

  • Respond to and qualify inbound leads, and set meetings for Sales Directors and Account Executives.

Team and growth

  • Partner with Account Executives, Marketing and Alliances to drive pipeline and exceed goals.
  • Log activity and categorize lead information accurately in Salesforce.
  • Help define our outbound strategy across channels, and iterate on team processes as we scale.
  • Master our consultative, Command of the Message, and Challenger sales approach, while developing enough fluency in dbt and Fivetran to articulate how the combined platform drives business value.

Tools you'll use: Salesforce, Outreach.io, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Nooks, ZoomInfo and various AI tools.

What you bring

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have 6+ months of inbound or outbound sales or sales development experience, including hands-on outbound cold calling.
  • Have prospected into business customers and are comfortable with both VP-level and individual-contributor pitches.
  • Communicate well, verbally and in writing, with strong grammar.
  • Have a high-level understanding of the data and analytics space.
  • Collaborate well in a fast-paced environment and manage a high volume of work efficiently.
  • Are values-oriented and share our company values.

You'll have an edge if you:

  • Have 1+ years of previous SDR/BDR outbound experience.
  • Have prior experience in analytics, ETL, BI and/or open-source software.

About this role

Fivetran is seeking a Business Development Representative for its Denver office to drive pipeline generation in the Commercial and Enterprise segments. You'd work hybrid—two to three days weekly in-office—partnering with Sales Directors to identify target accounts, conduct discovery conversations with data leaders and technical buyers, and execute multi-channel outreach via phone, email, LinkedIn, and video. The role centers on research, personalized prospecting, account strategy, and maintaining accurate pipeline data in Salesforce while leveraging tools like Outreach, Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, and AI platforms to improve efficiency.

The position suits someone with at least nine months of SaaS or technology sales development experience who can communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders. You should be comfortable learning data and cloud infrastructure concepts, managing multiple priorities, and thriving in a metrics-driven environment. Experience with outbound prospecting, AI tools, and familiarity with the modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt) would strengthen your candidacy, though not required.

Compensation ranges from $77,259 to $103,259 plus equity and performance-based pay. Benefits include 100% employer-paid medical insurance, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, professional development, and a year-end Global Week of Rest. The interview process involves four video rounds, including a final SDR challenge.
