About this role

Axsome Therapeutics is hiring a field-based specialty account manager to drive long-term care adoption of its CNS-focused pharmaceutical portfolio in the Richmond, Virginia territory. You'd own territory performance end-to-end: building relationships across the LTC ecosystem (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care coordinators), developing account and business plans to hit quarterly and annual targets, and positioning Axsome's approved treatments for depression, dementia agitation, sleep disorders, and migraine. The role blends clinical expertise with commercial acumen—you'll need to understand payer requirements, prior authorization processes, patient access programs, and reimbursement tools while maximizing marketing resources and maintaining a promotional budget.

This position suits someone with at least five years of pharma or biotech sales experience, ideally including two or more years in long-term care or account-based selling. You should have a track record of top-tier performance (Top 10% or President's Club level), comfort with both virtual and in-person customer engagement, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. Launch experience is strongly preferred. The role is in-office and field-based, requiring frequent driving and overnight travel as needed.

The salary range is $120,000 to $185,000, plus annual bonus, equity, and benefits. You'll need a bachelor's degree and should be prepared for the physical demands of the role: prolonged driving, sitting and standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and overhead reaching.
