About this role

Burgess & Niple is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join its Assessment and Remediation section in Columbus. You'll function as a technical lead on groundwater supply projects while tackling complex subsurface challenges across environmental assessment, remediation, and landfill compliance work. The role demands someone who can move fluidly between deep technical analysis and practical client problem-solving—developing conceptual site models, running groundwater-flow and contaminant-transport simulations, and interpreting complex geologic data to deliver solutions that satisfy both regulatory requirements and project objectives.

This position requires at least eight years of environmental consulting experience and direct proficiency with industry-standard modeling software: MODFLOW, MODPATH, AQTESOLV, and Groundwater Vistas. You'll plan and execute hydrologic investigations, construct and calibrate models, and prepare technically rigorous deliverables. A master's degree in geology, hydrology, or a related field is preferred; a bachelor's is the minimum. The work includes field investigations in varied weather and terrain, so comfort working outdoors is essential.

This role suits someone with strong technical credentials who is self-motivated, adaptable, and genuinely interested in solving environmental problems that affect communities. If you have the modeling expertise, consulting background, and appetite for both fieldwork and technical depth, this is a position where your experience directly shapes project outcomes.
