Takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Marketplace Sales Intern to join our Cross-Border eCommerce team.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

N6 / NCV in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, or related field

 The skills we need:

  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Data interpretation and presentation.
  • Basic understanding of e-commerce or online marketplace platforms (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Google Sheets and Looker or similar BI tools (advantageous).

 Key responsibilities:

  • Support Business Development Admins (BDAs) with day-to-day administrative tasks, seller correspondence, and account management activities.
  • Prepare clear reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate sales performance, seller metrics, and marketplace insights to stakeholders.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret sales, seller, and marketplace data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining seller records, onboarding documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor seller performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in identifying improvement opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Catalogue, and Customer Experience.
  • Support the coordination and administration of promotional activities, deal submissions, and catalogue updates.
  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives by identifying root causes, proposing practical solutions, and supporting implementation.
  • Assist with seller onboarding support, listing quality checks, and ensuring data integrity across marketplace systems.

This is an 18-month contract

About this role

Takealot.com's Cross-Border eCommerce team is seeking an intern to support their Business Development Admins with marketplace operations and seller management. You'll work across data analysis, reporting, and administrative coordination—preparing dashboards and performance insights, monitoring seller KPIs, maintaining records and onboarding documentation, and collaborating with Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, and other teams to solve problems and improve processes. This is an 18-month contract role based in Cape Town.

The position suits someone with an N6 or NCV qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, plus solid computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office and data tools. Experience with e-commerce platforms, Google Sheets, or BI tools like Looker is a bonus. You'll need strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks while interpreting data and presenting findings clearly.
