About this role
ARCO Design/Build is looking for a summer intern to work on active construction projects in Indianapolis, gaining hands-on exposure to how large-scale design/build projects operate from start to finish. You'll spend your days on job sites learning field operations, safety protocols, scheduling, and quality control alongside experienced superintendents and project leaders who are invested in your development. This is a genuine working internship, not a shadowing role—you'll participate in daily safety meetings, help coordinate subcontractor activities, support inspections, and see real accountability for keeping projects on track and to standard.
You should be enrolled in a civil engineering, architectural engineering, construction engineering, or construction management degree program with at least a 3.0 GPA. Prior construction internship or co-op experience is preferred. You'll need strong communication skills, a reliable work ethic, and an active driver's license to get around the job site. ARCO offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime potential, housing assistance if needed, medical/dental/vision coverage for interns staying three months or longer, and company-sponsored meals and events.
This role suits someone who wants to see how construction actually works—not just learn theory—and who's serious about exploring whether field operations or project management is the right career path. ARCO is a well-established firm (over 30 years old, ranked in the top 50 national contractors) with a stated commitment to developing the next generation of construction leaders.
