Description
Senior Automation Engineer
VGW is an interactive entertainment company, harnessing technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play online social games.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our IT team in Sydney and are currently looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join the team.
In this role, you will architect our internal orchestration engines, transforming manual, fragmented IT procedures and access controls into automated, zero-touch pipelines and reusable frameworks.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Architect and maintain durable, automated workflows that replace manual processes across IT and core business functions to eliminate single-person dependencies.
- Design robust, decoupled integration frameworks using APIs (REST/SOAP) and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS, Lambdas) to seamlessly connect applications.
- Drive background user account provisioning and zero-touch access control to significantly reduce service desk ticket volume and support rapid organisational scaling.
- Establish maintainable technical standards, self-service scaffolding, and reusable integration assets that empower other internal teams to leverage automation safely.
What you will bring to the role:
- Proven experience converting manual operational workflows into reliable automated pipelines and integration frameworks
- Strong background in event-driven architecture and messaging systems, such as Kafka, SQS, or Lambdas
- Extensive API integration experience, including working with REST and SOAP APIs, custom endpoints, and secret management tools
- Deep technical expertise in Identity Management, automated access control, and zero-touch provisioning across core enterprise applications
- Solid software engineering foundation with hands-on technical implementation skills rather than high-level enterprise architecture alone
