About this role
Astranis designs and operates satellites for high-orbit communications serving governments, enterprises, and the U.S. military. As a CAD Engineer Associate, you would spend twelve weeks modeling and drawing spacecraft components, structures, and manifolds using SolidWorks while maintaining the company's design library and infrastructure. The role offers genuine exposure to hardware that reaches orbit—past associates have seen their designs fly to space, and many have stayed on as full-time employees.
You'll need a completed B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical field (physics, applied math, industrial design), plus proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T with engineering drawings. Experience designing complex assemblies, spaceflight components, or vacuum-compatible systems would strengthen your candidacy. The position is based in San Francisco and requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status due to export regulations governing space technology. The role pays $1,925 per week and is structured for recent graduates ready to contribute meaningfully to complex engineering problems in a fast-paced environment.
