About this role
Grady Veterinary Hospital is seeking an overnight emergency veterinarian to staff its 24/7 AAHA-accredited facility in Cincinnati. You'd be the primary clinician during night shifts, diagnosing and treating acute medical and surgical cases, collaborating with specialists and daytime practitioners, and supporting pet owners through urgent situations. The role demands strong clinical judgment, efficient time management, and comfort working independently in a fast-paced emergency setting.
The position requires a veterinary degree and Ohio licensure; two or more years of hospital-based practice is preferred but not absolute. Grady emphasizes a supportive team culture backed by Rarebreed Veterinary Partners, which manages the hospital. Starting salary is $190,000 with experience-based flexibility and sign-on bonus eligibility. Benefits include standard medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401K matching up to 4%, generous paid time off, professional liability insurance, and mental health resources. You'll also receive discounts on veterinary services, diagnostics, Purina products, and pet insurance for your own animals.
Cincinnati itself offers affordable living, strong schools, parks along the Ohio River, and a established arts and food scene—practical considerations if you're relocating. The overnight schedule suits those seeking night-shift work at an established, well-staffed emergency hospital with a stated commitment to professional development and workplace culture.
