About this role
Comprehensive Mobile Care is looking for an Optician to work across multiple senior-focused outpatient clinics in the San Diego area on a part-time schedule—three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). This role combines clinical optometry support with direct patient care in a mission-driven healthcare environment serving seniors and underserved communities, rather than a high-volume retail optical practice.
You'll assist optometrists with patient intake, visual screenings, and diagnostic testing while managing eyewear selection, adjustments, and basic repairs. The work includes setting up and maintaining portable equipment, communicating with patients in English and Spanish, handling documentation, and adhering to sterilization and safety protocols. You'll need at least two years of optician or optometric technician experience, bilingual Spanish fluency, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift and transport equipment weighing 25–50 pounds. Experience with geriatric populations and familiarity with OSHA standards are preferred. The position pays $27 per hour plus mileage reimbursement, with a consistent weekday schedule and no evening or weekend shifts.
This role suits someone seeking meaningful work outside traditional retail optics—someone who values direct patient impact, enjoys working with seniors, and prefers a structured clinical environment with variety across multiple clinic locations. Cross-training opportunities in audiology and podiatry may also be available.
