About this role
Manatt's Entertainment team is seeking an attorney with four to six years of transactional experience to join their Los Angeles office and work across a diverse range of entertainment deals—from film and television financing to digital media, gaming, and emerging business models. You'd draft and negotiate sophisticated agreements, support M&A and production transactions, and advise clients spanning independent studios, production companies, financiers, and creator-focused businesses. The role emphasizes learning directly from experienced partners through client meetings, negotiations, and substantive involvement in strategic matters.
This position suits someone with a strong foundation in transactional law—ideally from a large firm background in entertainment, media, technology, corporate, or finance—who combines sharp drafting and negotiation skills with genuine business judgment. Prior in-house experience or work elsewhere in entertainment is valued, as is familiarity with guild matters and Excel. You should be organized, responsive across multiple complex projects, and comfortable exercising independent judgment while remaining open to mentorship.
Manatt's culture prioritizes long-term development and clear partnership trajectory. The firm expects associates to demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative mindset, with compensation ranging from $195,000 to $255,000 depending on qualifications. The role requires active California Bar membership and a commitment to in-office presence in Los Angeles, where much of the mentoring and team collaboration happens.
