About the team and role
The Strategic Finance team at Checkr sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and execution. We don't just report on the business, we shape it. We drive strategic decision-making through deep cross-functional partnership, financial and strategic analyses, and domain expertise. We proactively identify opportunities to fuel growth toward Checkr’s goals and deliver the highest impact outcomes.
We are looking for several Strategic Finance Senior Analysts to join our growing team. We focus on delivering actionable insights into business performance and optimizing resource allocation to accelerate growth. This person will play a pivotal role in how we scale our growth businesses.
What you’ll do
- Model Ownership: Own revenue and opex models that set goals and measure business performance.
- Build the next-generation StratFin team: Develop AI-powered workflows, automated analyses, and intelligence systems that redefine what a strategic finance team can do.
- Strategy: Assess and define our existing and potential future strategic priorities. Quantitatively validate and drive influence toward the highest revenue impact and ROI initiatives.
- Insights: Proactively deliver data-driven insights and recommendations that inform go-to-market tactics, product features and experiments, budget allocations, Board of Directors / investor materials, and other cross-functional roadmaps.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Sales, Product, Finance, Corporate Development, and more.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to our long-range, annual, and quarterly planning processes, including the strategic plan that positions us to accomplish our goals.
What you bring
- 4+ years of experience. Foundational experience in investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance/business operations is preferred. Experience with consumption-based business models is a meaningful plus.
- Proven track record of driving business outcomes through data analytics and financial insights.
- You've built something with AI- a model, a workflow, an automated analysis. You're eager to do more of it. You see AI as a core part of how great finance teams will operate, not a novelty.
- Expert-level modeling ability, translating complex business drivers into clear frameworks.
- Experience with Adaptive, Claude, Lovable, Salesforce, BI tools (ie. Omni), SQL.
- You identify problems before they're handed to you, and you thrive when the answer isn't obvious.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes

About this role
Checkr's Financial Planning & Strategy team is looking for someone to own the financial models and strategic analyses that directly shape how the company scales. You'd work across revenue and operating expense modeling, partner with Sales, Product, and leadership to validate growth opportunities, and deliver insights that inform everything from go-to-market decisions to Board materials. The role sits at the intersection of finance and execution—you're not just reporting on business performance, you're influencing it.
The ideal candidate has at least four years of experience, ideally from investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance backgrounds, with a strong grasp of consumption-based business models. You'll need expert-level financial modeling skills, SQL proficiency, and hands-on experience with BI tools and platforms like Salesforce or Adaptive. Critically, you should have built something with AI—a model, workflow, or automated analysis—and see AI as fundamental to how modern finance teams operate, not a side project.
This is a chance to help build the next generation of Checkr's StratFin function by developing AI-powered workflows and intelligence systems. You'd work in-office in San Francisco at least three days a week, with a base salary range of $128,000–$173,000, equity, full benefits, and professional development support.
