About this role
Kodiak Robotics is deploying autonomous trucking technology across the southern United States, and this role puts you at the center of that operation. As a Class A Safety Driver in Kermit, you'll operate commercial trucks—including doubles and triples—in real-world conditions while working directly with the team that's testing and refining the company's AI-powered autonomous systems. This isn't a traditional driving job; you're helping validate next-generation technology for both commercial freight delivery and Department of Defense applications.
The position requires a current Class A CDL with at least three years of verifiable experience, clean driving record, and willingness to obtain doubles and triples endorsements. You'll need to pass a background check, DOT physical, drug screening, and practical road test. The work involves frequent driving and sitting, flexible scheduling including nights, and basic computer skills—though Kodiak will train you on the technical side. The company values safety-minded drivers who can work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
Kodiak offers $39 per hour on a four-days-on, four-days-off schedule with 100% local driving, eliminating long hauls. Benefits include two weeks paid vacation plus one week sick time from day one, double pay for holidays, comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage (90% of premiums covered for employees), a 401k plan, cell phone subsidy, and access to newer, well-maintained vehicles. There's also a $3,000 referral bonus for each driver you bring on.
