About this role
Working in the central Cape Town office for South Africa's leading online retailer, you'd support the facilities team across a fast-growing, high-energy operation. This 18-month internship involves hands-on work with building systems, maintenance coordination, and operational data—collecting and analyzing facilities information, assisting with inspections and compliance activities, liaising with contractors, and supporting office projects and space changes. You'd also help manage access control, CCTV, maintenance systems, and procurement processes, while contributing to documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role suits someone with an N6 or NCV Level 4 qualification in facilities management or a related field who combines practical problem-solving with strong organizational skills. You'll need solid MS Office proficiency (especially Excel), attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently. A proactive mindset and willingness to learn are essential—you'll be exposed to a broad range of facilities operations in a large-scale environment and supported through the takealot Group's graduate program, which includes technical and soft skills training, mentorship, and access to online learning platforms.
The company emphasizes a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where feedback flows freely and execution matters. Beyond the work itself, you'd gain practical experience in e-commerce operations, free access to learning resources, mentorship from experienced professionals, and regular social events alongside market-related remuneration with flexibility to suit your needs.
