About this role
Vailexa is seeking a senior technical leader to architect and oversee enterprise hosting infrastructure across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. This role goes beyond day-to-day administration—you'll design end-to-end hosting solutions that meet global business requirements for availability, scalability, disaster recovery, and cost-effectiveness. You'll work across IT, cybersecurity, operations, and vendor teams to establish technical standards, guide technology selection, and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements. The position requires you to stay ahead of industry trends while mentoring engineers and communicating complex technical decisions to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Success in this role demands at least three years of hands-on hosting architecture experience, with deep expertise in virtualization (VMware or equivalent), enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, object storage), and public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. You'll need strong skills in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, along with solid networking knowledge and the ability to design for large-scale enterprise environments. Infrastructure certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or VMware VCP) are valued but not required.
This is an in-office position in Houston, Texas. The role suits architects and senior engineers who thrive on strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and driving modernization initiatives—someone ready to shape hosting capabilities that directly support business objectives rather than simply maintain existing systems.
