About this role
Sapro is seeking audit professionals to support a US government compliance engagement on a six to twelve month contract basis. The role demands expertise in Single Audits and Yellow Book standards, along with solid grounding in US GAAP and CCH software. This is hands-on audit work—you'll be delivering complex audit sections, managing workpapers, and ensuring quality across deliverables for a US client.
The position comes in three levels depending on your background. At the Senior level, you need four years of public accounting audit experience, a fully qualified credential (ACA, ACCA, or CPA), and the ability to mentor junior staff and handle complex audit documentation. The SIC role requires five years of experience plus two years leading teams, with responsibility for end-to-end audit management and sign-off authority on work papers. Managers must have six years of public accounting experience, two years of team leadership, and the capability to oversee larger engagements from planning through completion, including financial statement preparation and client communication.
The work is based in-office in South Africa and requires reliable, high-speed internet (minimum 50 Mbps upload and download, 30ms latency) to support a four-hour daily overlap with the US client. You'll need to be proactive, organized, and comfortable managing competing deadlines while maintaining communication across multiple stakeholders. An ITC/Board 1 pass is non-negotiable for Senior and SIC roles.
