About this role

Crestwood Behavioral Health is seeking two Regional (Travel) Directors of Nursing to lead nursing operations across Northern and Southern California. Based in Sacramento but traveling within your assigned region, you'll oversee all clinical nursing functions—infection control, pharmacy, laboratory, quality assurance, and staff education—while ensuring compliance with licensing and accreditation standards. The role involves temporarily filling nursing leadership gaps due to vacancies, leaves, new program launches, or operational needs, meaning you'll work flexibly across multiple campuses to support continuity of care.

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an active California RN license, along with at least one year of nursing supervisory experience within the past five years. You should have solid knowledge of DSM-5-TR, NANDA, psychosocial rehabilitation principles, and recovery-oriented care models. A Master's degree (MSN or MHA) and American Heart Association CPR/first aid certification are preferred. The role suits an experienced nurse leader comfortable with travel, clinical oversight, and cross-functional collaboration—someone who can step into leadership vacancies and help stabilize operations while supporting quality improvement across a behavioral health network.

The position is temporary and in-office, with a salary range of $166,400 to $187,200 based on your qualifications and experience. Crestwood offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and educational support programs for full-time employees.
