About this role
San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse for on-call, night-shift coverage on Unit G3, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting within their comprehensive senior care campus in the Excelsior neighborhood. This per diem position offers flexibility with variable hours (0-8 per week) and pays $47.19 per hour, though it does not include benefits.
You'll deliver direct patient care across the nursing process—administering medications and treatments, assessing resident conditions, and supervising nursing assistants. The role carries charge nurse responsibilities when needed and requires you to maintain documentation, coordinate across shifts and departments, and respond to emergencies. You'll also contribute to staff onboarding and advocate for resident rights while upholding safety and infection control standards. The night shift (11 PM to 7:30 AM) demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist residents for extended periods.
This role suits an LVN with current California licensure, active CPR certification, and ideally two years of acute or long-term care experience. You'll work within a mission-driven nonprofit that values compassionate, inclusive care and has supported over 2,500 older adults annually since 1871. The on-call structure makes this a good fit for someone seeking flexible supplemental work rather than a primary position.
