About this role
The United Firm is seeking an admitted attorney to lead post-conviction relief cases in their San Jose office, working directly with a supervising attorney on a caseload that spans motions to vacate, expungements, sentence reductions, and early probation termination. You'll handle the full lifecycle of these matters—from client consultation and legal research through motion drafting, court appearances, and post-hearing strategy sessions. The role also involves managing open criminal cases for other firm attorneys, including arraignments, pre-trials, and sentencing work, giving you exposure across criminal practice.
This position suits attorneys with prior litigation or appellate experience in criminal defense, ideally at state and local levels. While immigration law experience is desirable given the firm's dual practice focus, it's not required; you'll work collaboratively with the post-conviction relief team and other associates. Strong interpersonal skills, case management ability, and Spanish fluency are preferred. The salary ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 annually based on experience, with standard benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid parking, and paid time off.
