About this role

Grassi's Birmingham office is looking for a Tax Supervisor to lead client engagements end-to-end while building and mentoring a tax team. You'd own the full lifecycle of projects—from planning through completion—managing budgets, reviewing staff work, and identifying tax savings opportunities. The role requires hands-on tax preparation for complex individual, trust, and flow-through entities, along with research, IRS correspondence, and technical expertise across corporate, international, and state/local tax matters.

This position suits someone with at least four years of progressive tax experience and a CPA license (or willingness to pursue one with firm support). You'll need solid technical grounding in corporate restructuring, M&A, partnerships, and consolidated returns, plus the ability to juggle multiple priorities and lead people across concurrent engagements. Beyond technical work, you'll develop client relationships, contribute to business development, and represent the firm in the community.

Grassi is an employee-owned firm with genuine flexibility—generous PTO, floating summer Fridays, telecommuting options, and a strong culture around work-life balance. The ESOP structure means you'd have equity stake in the company's future, and the firm covers CPA exam costs and study materials. This is a chance to grow into a leadership role at a nationally ranked firm that's been consistently recognized for compensation and workplace culture.
