About this role

IMC, a quantitative trading firm, is looking for a Data Center Engineer to manage the physical infrastructure supporting its trading operations across colocation facilities in the New Jersey area. This is hands-on work: you'll install, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and cabling systems; troubleshoot hardware failures; coordinate vendor repairs; and manage inventory. The role also includes maintaining documentation of infrastructure layouts and building relationships with colocation partners and remote hands teams. You'll work core hours Monday–Friday, 11 am to 8 pm, with travel to local facilities as needed.

The position requires at least five years of data center engineering experience, with solid knowledge of server hardware, network infrastructure, fiber optics, and Linux systems. CCNA certification and scripting skills in Bash or Python are valued but not mandatory. You should be comfortable with physical demands—lifting equipment up to 60 pounds—and flexible scheduling that may include evenings and weekends. A valid driver's license is required.

The salary range is $125,000 to $190,000, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses and benefits including paid leave and insurance. This role suits someone who thrives in a technical, fast-paced environment and prefers direct hardware work over remote administration.
