- Conducting regular site walks to monitor installation progress, identify potential issues, and help keep projects on schedule.
- Reviewing work plans, construction methods, safety procedures, and schedules for civil and general construction activities.
- Maintaining accurate project documentation related to site conditions, inspections, field decisions, and project progress.
- Serving as EPS's onsite representative while building strong working relationships with clients, utilities, AHJs, EPCs, contractors, and community stakeholders.
- Supporting team development by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior field staff, and contributing to operational improvement efforts.
Who You Are

About this role
Energy Project Solutions is seeking a Civil Field Engineer to manage onsite construction oversight for utility-scale renewable energy projects—solar, battery storage, and wind installations. Based in Phoenix but working across project sites, you'll lead daily civil activities including grading, earthwork, foundations, and drainage. This means coordinating multiple subcontractors, conducting inspections and quality checks, resolving field issues in real time, and maintaining the documentation that keeps projects compliant and on track. You'll serve as EPS's representative onsite, building relationships with EPCs, utilities, and other stakeholders while keeping work safe, efficient, and aligned with schedules and specifications.
The role suits someone with a civil engineering background and hands-on construction experience, ideally with exposure to renewable energy projects. You should be comfortable managing survey and earthwork coordination, handling nonconformance reports and corrective actions, and working in a fast-paced field environment where priorities shift. Strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and construction scheduling tools, and OSHA 10 safety training are expected. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering is preferred, though a strong construction track record can substitute; EIT or PE licensure is a bonus.
This is a full-time, five-days-per-week onsite position requiring travel to project sites outside the greater Phoenix area and across the United States. EPS emphasizes work-life balance, professional development, health benefits with 401(k) matching, and a collaborative team culture.
