About this role

AirTrunk is seeking an Associate Director to own the security design quality and assurance function across its rapidly expanding hyperscale data centre portfolio in the Asia Pacific and Middle East region. Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Director of Security, you'll be the primary authority ensuring all physical security designs—from master planning through commissioning—meet AirTrunk's standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. This is a leadership role that combines technical depth with governance responsibility: you'll develop and maintain security design frameworks, conduct formal reviews at key project milestones, identify and drive remediation of design gaps, and provide formal approval recommendations to stakeholders across development, construction, operations, and customer teams.

The technical scope spans all physical security domains including access control, CCTV, perimeter and intrusion detection, security operations centre integration, visitor management, and control room design. You'll evaluate emerging technologies, manage lifecycle replacement strategies, and ensure security systems are cyber-resilient and scalable. A significant part of the role involves building and mentoring regional Security Program Managers, managing relationships with global consultants and vendors, and translating security requirements into operational reality before handover.

This role suits someone with established expertise in data centre or critical infrastructure physical security design, strong stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences, and the ability to drive standardisation and continuous improvement across a complex, geographically dispersed portfolio. You'll need to balance technical rigour with commercial awareness and the capacity to influence decision-making across multiple teams and project lifecycles.
