About this role

Leading advertising operations at takealot.com means building and scaling a retail media business from a position of established momentum. You'll manage two tiers of campaign professionals while reporting directly to the Group Executive for Retail Media, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on problem-solving across campaign workflows, platform optimization, and team development. The role demands someone who can embed operational discipline—establishing KPIs, refining processes, and identifying automation opportunities—while simultaneously championing AI-driven innovation to enhance targeting, optimization, and performance prediction across the network.

This hire needs 8–10 years of progressive advertising or marketing operations experience, with proven ability to lead and develop larger teams in data-intensive, fast-moving environments. Deep familiarity with AdTech or MarTech platforms is essential; experience implementing or working with AI/ML tools in advertising or analytics contexts is highly valued. You'll spend significant time translating complex data into strategy, leveraging analytics tools like Osmos to inform decisions, and building reporting frameworks that drive visibility and accountability. Equally important is your capacity to partner across Sales, Product, Analytics, and Technology—acting as the operational voice in product discussions and shaping the retail media network's direction alongside senior leadership.

The environment is entrepreneurial and execution-focused: takealot.com values ownership, direct feedback, and output over ego. You'll need strong people management instincts, strategic thinking paired with tactical execution, and the resilience to navigate ambiguity. This is an in-office role based in Cape Town.
