About this role
Astranis designs and operates satellites for high-orbit communications serving governments, enterprises, and the U.S. military. As a CAD Engineer Intern this spring, you'd spend twelve weeks modeling and drawing spacecraft components, structures, and manifolds using SolidWorks while maintaining the company's design library and documentation practices. The work is hands-on and substantive—past interns have designed hardware that reached orbit, and several transitioned into full-time roles afterward.
You should be currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field like physics or applied math. Proficiency with SolidWorks, GD&T, and engineering drawings is required. Experience with complex assemblies, spaceflight component design, or vacuum-compatible systems would strengthen your candidacy. The internship is based in San Francisco and requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status due to export regulations governing space technology.
The position pays $29 per hour and is designed for students still enrolled at a college or university. If you've already graduated, Astranis asks that you apply for an Associate Engineer role instead.
