About this role
WPP is building out a US Indirect Taxes Center of Excellence in Mumbai, and this role sits at the center of that expansion. You'd own the full lifecycle of indirect tax compliance for multiple US subsidiaries—from preparing sales and use tax filings to handling nexus determinations, audit responses, and monthly reconciliations across personal property, gross receipts, and commercial rent taxes. The work spans both steady-state compliance and strategic initiatives, including leading the implementation of a new tax engine alongside technology and vendor partners.
This is a role for someone with at least two years of Big 4 indirect tax experience who can move fluidly between detailed compliance work and problem-solving on ad-hoc projects. You'll need strong command of tax software, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with finance teams across multiple US entities. The position demands someone comfortable building processes from the ground up—establishing filing calendars, organizing workpapers, and creating databases—while also staying sharp on the technical side of tax law and transaction analysis.
The in-office setup in Mumbai means you'll be part of a new team being assembled, which offers both the challenge of building something and the stability of working within WPP's established infrastructure across 100+ markets. If you thrive in collaborative environments and want to grow beyond pure compliance into process design and technology implementation, this could be a strong next step.
