Description

We are a small, nimble, growing firm, and we're always looking to add exceptional people. This post is an open door for you to express interest, even if our respective timelines are not currently aligned. We're building an inbound pipeline of great people, and we'd rather meet you now than miss you later.

If you're curious about BlackEdge, send us your resume and we will take it from there.

Who This Is For

This is for experienced applicants - typically more than two years in your field. Our roles fall into three broad areas:

  • Trading - Hands-on traders, quantitative researchers, data scientists, floor traders, and other support roles.
  • Technology - Engineers of all kinds: software, hardware, data, DevOps, systems, and more.
  • Operations - Finance, HR, Risk, and Compliance.

Tell us where you fit, and what you'd want to work on.

About BlackEdge Capital

BlackEdge Capital is a proprietary options market maker built on industry-leading technology and a deeply collaborative culture. We compete at the highest technical level in electronic markets, and we win by pairing exceptional engineering with incisive research. Everyone here is a genuine partner in the trading process, embedded in the strategy, close to the technology, and shaping the direction of the firm itself.

What It Takes to Work Here

The bar is high and the work is real. Across every team, the people who thrive here share a few things:

  • Real ownership. You run your own work in production, with the support to do it well. Impact is immediate and measurable.
  • Depth over speed. You care more about understanding how things actually work - markets, pricing, and technology - than rushing to ship. Getting it right matters more than getting it out fast.
  • Low ego, high collaboration. Traders, researchers, and engineers work closely and move in tight, fast feedback loops. Intelligence outweighs seniority.
  • Competitive drive. We play at the highest level in electronic markets, and we win on excellent execution of creative solutions. We want people who relentlessly pursue victory.

How We Work

We are Chicago-based and support remote work. We value clarity and simplicity over cleverness for its own sake, tight feedback loops between trading, technology, and operations, and people who take ownership end to end.

Compensation is highly competitive, with significant upside clearly and explicitly tied to firm profit and individual performance. Our model is transparent: bonuses are a share of firm profit, and because your share scales with your performance, a strong year for you and the firm compounds.

Interested? Send us your resume and a short note on where you see yourself fitting in. Humans review every submission.

We would love to hear from everyone! Even if you are navigating an extended non-compete, are not local to Chicago, or your timing is not immediate, apply anyway. We're flexible about time and place for the right people, and we'd rather start the conversation early. We never let logistics get in the way of finding great talent.

About this role

BlackEdge Capital is actively building a talent pipeline for its Chicago-based options trading operation, and this posting is genuinely open-ended—they're inviting experienced professionals to express interest even if immediate hiring isn't happening. If you have more than two years of depth in trading, quantitative research, data science, software engineering, DevOps, or operations roles (finance, HR, risk, compliance), they want to hear from you. The firm explicitly welcomes applications from people with non-competes, those outside Chicago, or anyone whose timeline doesn't align right now, treating early conversations as valuable regardless of when you might actually join.

The culture here centers on ownership, depth, and collaboration. You'd be expected to run your own work in production with support, care more about understanding how things actually work than shipping quickly, and thrive in tight feedback loops between traders, engineers, and operations. This is a competitive environment—they win by pairing strong engineering with research at the highest technical level in electronic markets—but ego takes a back seat to intelligence and collaborative problem-solving. Everyone is genuinely embedded in strategy and has a voice in the firm's direction.

Compensation is explicitly tied to firm profit and individual performance, with bonuses structured as a transparent share that scales with how well you and the firm execute. The work is real and the bar is high, but if you're someone who wants measurable impact, genuine partnership in what you build, and the chance to compete at an elite level, this is worth a conversation with them.
