Description

About the Position

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to help source IT hardware across our offices, data centers, and colocations in the Americas. This will include servers, networking, storage, and desktop-related equipment. In addition to sourcing the equipment, you’ll be intricately involved in raising purchase orders and coordinating logistics.

As you manage the process of buying hardware for Jane Street, you’ll collaborate with external vendors and colleagues from our Data Center, Networking, IT, and Procurement teams. Clear communication will be needed as you deliver information and manage expectations for each request.

When a purchase request is made, you’ll enter it into our procurement system, obtain requests for quotes (RFQs), negotiate with vendors, and provide stakeholders with a summary of buying options (i.e., price, availability, lead time, etc.). When it’s time to buy, you’ll place the order and track the shipment to make sure it’s delivered on time. You’ll also review invoices for accuracy and request corrections if needed. Your ability to take initiative, follow up, and close the loop on all purchases and discrepancies will be critical to your success in this role.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, IT, engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong background in Excel, knowledge of RFQ and ordering processes, and experience negotiating with suppliers
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communicator; describes detailed problems with brevity and accuracy
  • Self-starter who can manage several deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player who enjoys collaborating with others

About this role

Jane Street is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage IT hardware sourcing across their Americas offices, data centers, and colocations. You'll own the full procurement cycle—from processing requests and gathering quotes through vendor negotiation, purchase order placement, shipment tracking, and invoice reconciliation. This role sits at the intersection of logistics and stakeholder management, requiring you to communicate clearly with external vendors and internal teams across Data Center, Networking, IT, and Procurement to keep complex orders moving and set realistic expectations on pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in supply chain, IT, engineering, or a related technical field and brings at least three years of hands-on procurement or supply chain experience. You'll need strong Excel skills, solid knowledge of RFQ and ordering processes, and a track record of negotiating effectively with suppliers. Beyond technical competency, this role demands someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment while staying on top of follow-ups and closing out discrepancies. Self-starters who communicate with precision and work well across teams will thrive here.
