About this role
Teneo's Strategy and Communications team in Sydney is building its public affairs practice and looking for someone with 4–6 years of experience to step into a senior advisory role. You would work directly with clients navigating the intersection of business strategy and government policy, helping them anticipate regulatory shifts, map stakeholder landscapes, and develop engagement strategies that matter. The work spans federal and state government relations, policy analysis, and scenario planning—all within Australia's fast-moving political and regulatory environment.
The role sits at the nexus of client delivery and team leadership. You'll manage day-to-day account activity, produce policy papers and strategic briefings, and mentor junior consultants, while also identifying new business opportunities and contributing to proposals. Success requires strong political and regulatory literacy, the ability to translate complex developments into strategic insight for senior leaders, and genuine fluency across policy, geopolitics, and macroeconomic trends. You should have a background in public affairs, policy advisory, or corporate affairs—ideally from a consultancy—plus a relevant degree (public policy, law, economics, political science, or similar).
This is an in-office role in Sydney suited to someone who wants to build deep stakeholder networks across government and industry while growing Teneo's government relations footprint in Australia and the region.
