About this role

Takealot.com is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to own the Camping category and drive growth across this department. You'll develop and execute a comprehensive strategy covering product sourcing, supplier management, pricing, and merchandising while hitting specific financial and service targets. The role demands strong commercial judgment—from negotiating supplier terms and identifying new brands aligned with market trends, to managing stock levels and promotional calendars that keep the category competitive and well-stocked.

This position suits someone with at least five years of retail, commerce, or e-commerce buying experience, ideally with background in camping or outdoor retail. You'll need solid analytical skills to use data in decision-making, the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships, and a structured approach to managing competing priorities. A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Science or Commerce is preferred; without it, eight years of related experience becomes the threshold.

You'll be working in-office in Cape Town within a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where execution and ownership matter as much as ideas. The company values direct feedback, cross-team collaboration, and people who stay customer-focused while adapting to change. If you're commercially minded, passionate about e-commerce potential, and comfortable taking on a high-impact role in a dynamic organization, this is worth exploring.
