About this role
Takealot.com's Catalogue team is seeking a Product Manager to own the strategic roadmap for a division serving millions of shoppers across South Africa's largest online retailer. You'll work at the intersection of commercial growth and regulatory compliance, defining technical requirements, managing the engineering backlog, and driving projects from conception through production launch. This role demands someone who can translate business objectives into concrete technical specifications, track success through data-driven metrics, and shepherd cross-functional teams—engineers, designers, and stakeholders—through the full development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings at least three years of product management or business analysis experience (or seven years without a relevant degree), with proven SQL proficiency and a track record delivering large-scale initiatives in fast-paced environments. You'll need strong technical literacy, structured thinking, and the flexibility to balance rapid scaling with quality and compliance rigor. E-commerce or compliance background is a bonus; agile development experience is valued. This is an in-office role in Cape Town reporting directly to the Product Lead for Catalogue, embedded in a hyper-growth company that promotes from within and invests in continuous learning through industry partnerships and free upskilling platforms.
