Fleet Data Centers designs, builds, and operates mega-scale data center campuses. The company delivers flexible, scalable infrastructure solutions for hyperscale cloud and AI customers through in-house design, engineering, and operations. Fleet is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with satellite offices in Seattle, Washington and Arlington, Virginia.

Position Summary

The Cost Management Principal leads program-level cost management for large-scale data center construction programs. Responsibilities include cost planning, cost control, progress measurement, risk mitigation, costed scheduling, commercial negotiations, and collaboration with the Contracts Management team throughout the RFx process.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing

  • Lead RFx processes including bid leveling and commercial negotiations.
  • Negotiate Lump Sum, GMP, and NTE agreements.
  • Support financial planning and procurement activities.

Cost Management & Control

  • Monitor project finances, payments, variations, and claims.
  • Develop, review, and present project cost estimates and cost plans.
  • Drive cost control, change management, contingency tracking, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with contractors and owners to maintain accurate cost information.

Quantity Surveying

  • Determine quantities for large-scale data center projects.
  • Assess labor and specialized installation requirements.
  • Provide accurate cost and quantity information to support project decisions.
  • Help maintain project schedule and budget compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years as a Quantity Surveying subject matter expert.
  • 5+ years in construction and strategic sourcing/procurement.
  • 3+ years supporting hyperscaler or data center organizations.
  • 3+ years of commercial contract negotiation experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, data analytics, and BI tools.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or professional license.
  • Experience with GMP, NTE, Cost Plus, Time & Materials, DB, and DBA contracts.
  • Experience with cost management software and financial system integration.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements.

Location, Travel & Compensation

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in office.
  • Up to 15% domestic travel.
  • Expected salary: $120,000 - $150,000 plus discretionary bonus.
