Our ideal candidate is someone who smiles often, loves connecting with people, thinks ahead, and finds a way to say "yes." You enjoy being busy, embrace multitasking, and understand that outstanding customer service is just as important as outstanding medical care.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a positive attitude, and genuinely enjoy helping pets and the people who love them, we want to meet you.

Responsibilities:

  1. Client Interaction and Communication:
    •  Create an exceptional experience for every client from the moment they call or walk through our doors.
    • Greet clients warmly and professionally while building lasting relationships.
    • Answer a high-volume phone system, respond to client inquiries, and provide information about hospital services.
    • Schedule appointments, surgeries, and procedures for a busy five-doctor practice.
  2. Check-In and Check-Out Procedures:
    • Efficiently check in patients, verify information, update medical records, and obtain necessary paperwork.
    • Process payments, prepare invoices and receipts, and coordinate a smooth check-out experience.
    • Schedule follow-up appointments and provide post-visit instructions.
  3. Administrative Tasks and Record Keeping:
    • Multitask between appointments, phone calls, emails, payments, medical records, and administrative duties.
    • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and client information.
    • Complete filing, scanning, faxing, and other general office tasks.
  4. Client Education and Support:
    • Educate clients on wellness care, preventive medicine, medications, and hospital services.
    • Answer questions, address concerns, and proactively anticipate client needs to provide outstanding service.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
    • Assist with coordinating appointments, procedures, and special requests.
    •  Serve as a positive ambassador for our hospital by delivering compassionate, professional client service every day.

The Client Service Representative is much more than just a receptionist. Our CSRs provide the first impression of the hospital to clients and patients. They must be warm, friendly, professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and capable of handling many tasks at once with many interruptions.  This role requires an individual with knowledge of the veterinary world, critical thinking, and schedule maintenance.  Individuals with friendly and outgoing demeanors are necessary.

About this role

Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic, part of the Veterinary Innovative Partners network, is seeking a Client Service Representative for its five-doctor practice in Manhattan. This role goes well beyond traditional reception work—you'll be the first point of contact for clients and patients, managing high-volume phone calls, scheduling appointments across a busy surgical and dental practice, and handling check-in/check-out procedures with accuracy and warmth. The position demands someone comfortable juggling multiple interruptions while maintaining composure, attention to detail, and genuine care for both the animals and the people who bring them in.

The ideal candidate has prior veterinary reception experience or a background in healthcare or hospitality customer service, paired with strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly. You'll need to multitask seamlessly, educate clients on preventive care and services, collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to keep patient flow smooth, and anticipate client needs before they ask. This is a role for someone with an outgoing, friendly demeanor who thrives in fast-paced environments and sees every interaction as an opportunity to represent the practice well.

The clinic offers competitive compensation ($21–$26 per hour based on experience), comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), paid time off, tuition assistance, and a uniform allowance. You'll work in a newly built, state-of-the-art facility with modern technology, a dedicated staff lounge, and a team committed to Fear Free and Feline Friendly standards. This is an in-office position at 374 6th Avenue in New York City.
