Description

Company Overview:

Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

About this role

Beam Therapeutics is building out a field operations team to support the commercial launch of risto-cel, and this role puts you at the center of that effort. As Associate Director/Director of Gene Therapy Operations, you would be the on-the-ground operational leader responsible for onboarding treatment centers, coordinating patient scheduling across apheresis and infusion, and ensuring compliant, high-quality execution at each site. You'd work hands-on with apheresis teams, troubleshoot collection and delivery challenges in real time, and serve as the primary operational contact for treatment center stakeholders while partnering cross-functionally with key account managers, patient operations, and quality teams.

This is a field-based role requiring over 60% travel and direct involvement in apheresis and infusion activities at treatment centers. You'll need 8+ years of healthcare experience with direct hands-on apheresis expertise and preferably a background in cell and gene therapy operations or treatment center onboarding. An advanced degree such as RN, BSN, MPH, or MBA is preferred. The position demands strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to compliance and chain of custody protocols, and the ability to operate independently in a matrixed environment while building trusted relationships with clinical and operational teams.

The salary range is $185,000–$260,000, commensurate with your experience level. The role is based in Minneapolis and requires full-time, in-office commitment, though the work itself is field-based across assigned treatment centers nationwide.
