Description
About Giga
Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
Why join Giga
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What you'll do
As an Assembly Technician, you will be hands-on at the heart of our manufacturing operation — bringing complex energy systems to life from raw components to finished assemblies. This is not a role for someone who wants to watch from the sidelines. You will own the quality and craftsmanship of every unit you build, directly impacting the speed at which we bring critical energy infrastructure online.
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our Houston office. You must be willing to work in the office full-time.
We're onsite because velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure. Solving complex problems in real-time with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Finance leaders is how we move faster than a slow, antiquated industry.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components, subassemblies, and finished units per engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
- Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly schematics, and documentation to ensure accurate and compliant builds
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and measuring equipment to complete assemblies to specification
- Perform visual inspections and basic functional checks prior to handoff to test and QC
- Identify and communicate assembly defects, discrepancies, or design issues to engineering in real time
- Collaborate with test and QC teams to ensure smooth product flow and strong first-pass yield
- Support continuous improvement initiatives on the assembly floor
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in electromechanical or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to read and work from engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards
- High school diploma or equivalent
Bonus Points
- Experience with energy or power systems equipment (inverters, switchgear, battery systems, etc.)
- Technical trade certification or vocational training in a related field
- Familiarity with electrical assembly including wiring, terminations, or harness building
- Prior experience in a high-growth startup or fast-paced manufacturing environment
Benefits
- Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
- Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
- 401(k) with 4% employer match
- Unlimited PTO
- Parental leave
- Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA or HSA
- Commuter benefits
- Monthly team onsites where all offices come in-person to collaborate
Who we hire
We hire people who thrive in chaos and get sharper under pressure. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot the gap and fill it. When there's work to be done, you do it. You make decisions with the information you have, move fast, and adjust along the way. We're not looking for perfect; we're looking for people who get things done.

About this role
Giga Energy is assembling the physical infrastructure powering AI at scale, and this Assembly Technician role puts you at the center of that operation. You'll build mechanical and electrical systems from components to finished units, working directly from engineering drawings and BOMs. The work demands precision—visual inspections, functional checks, and real-time communication of defects to engineering—but it also demands speed. You'll be hands-on, owning the quality of every unit that ships, with direct visibility into how your work impacts the pace at which critical energy infrastructure reaches deployment.
This is a contract position based full-time in Houston, suited for someone with at least two years of electromechanical or mechanical assembly experience in manufacturing. You'll need proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision measurement equipment, plus the ability to read technical documentation accurately. Experience with energy or power systems, electrical assembly, or vocational training is a bonus. The role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, and quality—you'll collaborate across teams to solve problems in real time rather than escalate them up approval chains.
Giga's pitch is straightforward: the pace is genuinely fast, the impact is visible, and the moment in AI infrastructure is now. If you've felt stalled in slower environments and want to work alongside operators building something that matters, this role offers that. The benefits package includes equity options, health coverage, 401(k) matching, unlimited PTO, and parental leave—standard for a high-growth startup, but worth noting alongside the intensity of the work.
