About this role

Energy CX is the fastest-growing energy broker in the US, and this Chicago-based Account Executive role offers a direct path to significant earnings through an uncapped commission structure. You'll own the full sales cycle with major commercial real estate firms and manufacturers, from prospecting and discovery through closing deals. The compensation trajectory is aggressive: starting around $140,000 in year one and scaling to $465,000–$515,000+ by year five, with the potential to earn beyond those figures through commissions and incentives.

Success in this role requires at least two years of sales experience, genuine interpersonal skills, and what the company calls "grit"—a consistent ability to hunt for new business and close deals. You'll develop account plans, identify key decision-makers, and position yourself as a trusted energy advisor to clients. While a BDR team will supply most exploratory meetings once you're ramped, you should be comfortable with proactive prospecting via cold calls and emails early on. This is fundamentally a results-driven environment where your ability to build rapport and articulate value directly determines your income.

If you thrive in competitive, entrepreneurial settings and have a track record of closing deals, this role rewards that performance immediately. The company's rapid growth and recognition by Fortune and Inc 5000 suggest stability and momentum, though the "eat what you kill" culture means your success depends entirely on your own effort and sales execution.
