About this role
Apperture Solutions, the technology consulting division of a 100% employee-owned company, is looking for a Senior Systems Consultant to lead the automation and operational technology scope on large-scale capital projects. You would own the full lifecycle from concept design through execution, overseeing everything from process control systems and facility automation to instrumentation, IT/OT integration, and production execution systems. This is a hands-on leadership role where you manage a team of automation engineers while serving as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical delivery across multiple disciplines.
The position demands deep expertise in automation platforms (DCS, PLC, building management systems, and related technologies) combined with proven ability to lead complex, multi-vendor projects under pressure. You'll advise clients on technology strategy, resolve cross-disciplinary technical conflicts, act as the owner's representative to ensure vendor deliverables meet requirements, and contribute to proposal development. A bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical, computer, or systems engineering is required, along with a minimum of 10 years in large-scale capital projects and at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. US citizenship is required, and the role involves approximately 50% travel across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
