About this role
Brewer Veterinary Clinic, an AAHA-accredited small animal practice in Central Maine, is looking for a credentialed veterinary technician to work part-time supporting its veterinarians and care team. You'd handle the full scope of technician work in a well-equipped facility: patient assessment and triage, venipuncture and IV placement, radiography, anesthesia monitoring, surgical and dental assistance, pharmacy duties, sample processing, and client communication around estimates and care plans. The role also includes room and equipment maintenance, kennels, and other clinic housekeeping. This is a high-volume practice, so you'll need to manage multiple tasks efficiently, stay calm under pressure, and work collaboratively with receptionists, assistants, and veterinarians.
The clinic prefers candidates with veterinary technician certification or licensure and prior surgical or dental experience, though equivalent training may substitute. Beyond technical skills, they're looking for someone genuinely compassionate toward animals and clients, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable with the emotional demands of working with stressed or ill pets. You should be comfortable with practice management software and medical monitoring equipment.
Part-time employees receive competitive pay and access to discounts on veterinary services; full-time positions include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, continuing education allowance, and certification reimbursement. Background checks and references are required.
