About this role
Giga Energy is building AI data center infrastructure at scale, and this Engineering Manager role puts you in charge of developing the transformer engineering function that powers it. You'd lead a team of transformer engineers through the full product lifecycle—from design concept to production—while driving decisions around performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost. The work spans close collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations teams, plus root-cause investigations and the establishment of engineering processes and standards.
The role demands 7+ years designing distribution transformers for the North American market and at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. You'll need solid grounding in transformer fundamentals across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing domains, plus fluency with IEEE, UL, ANSI, and NEMA standards. Experience bringing transformer products from design through production is essential; cross-functional work with manufacturing and quality teams is the norm here.
This is a contract position based in Houston, though Giga operates an in-office culture with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays. The company moves fast on physical infrastructure projects and values people who own outcomes, communicate directly, and make decisions with incomplete information. If you thrive in high-velocity environments and have the transformer design and leadership background they're after, this is a chance to shape critical infrastructure for the AI era.
