About this role
Mercer Advisors is looking for a senior estate planning attorney to lead its Regis practice, which serves ultra-high net worth families with balance sheets often exceeding $100 million. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical authority with team building and client relationship ownership. You would set the practice standard, mentor an elite team of estate planning strategists, and personally engage on the firm's most complex and sophisticated client situations—not oversee from a distance. The position requires deep expertise in federal transfer tax law, multi-generational wealth transfer strategies, and the ability to coordinate across investments, tax, and financial planning to deliver fully integrated advice.
The ideal candidate brings 20+ years of estate planning experience, with the majority advising clients at $50 million and above, and significant hands-on work with $100M+ families. A J.D. is required; an LL.M. in taxation or estate planning is strongly preferred. You should have a track record of building and leading high-performing teams in a wealth management or family office setting, and prior experience at a top-tier law firm, recognized estate planning boutique, or multi-family office. Experience with business succession planning and liquidity events like M&A exits rounds out the profile.
Based in Los Angeles and working in-office, this role offers a salary range of $255,000 to $300,000. You would join a firm ranked #1 among RIAs by Barron's for two consecutive years, operating as an independent fiduciary across 110+ cities and serving over 42,800 families.
