About this role
Empower Pharmacy's 503A and 503B compounding operation in Houston needs a pharmacist to own the final verification step on thousands of daily prescriptions. You'd be the clinical authority responsible for catching errors before medications reach patients—reviewing dosing, interactions, allergies, and labeling while working closely with technicians to maintain both speed and safety in a high-volume environment. This is hands-on verification work, not administrative oversight; you're directly involved in the workflow, identifying discrepancies, communicating with prescribers when needed, and enforcing quality standards in real time.
The role demands someone comfortable with both clinical rigor and operational thinking. You'll monitor dispensing queues, balance throughput with accuracy, spot workflow inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements. Empower has invested in AI-assisted verification tools and automation systems—you'd be expected to use these technologies as force multipliers rather than resist them, while staying grounded in sound clinical judgment. Regulatory compliance is non-negotiable; you'll maintain audit-ready practices and ensure controlled substance handling meets federal and state requirements.
This is a third-shift position suited to a pharmacist with at least two years of pharmacy experience, a strong track record in high-volume settings, and comfort with both people leadership and technology adoption. You'll need a Texas pharmacy license in good standing and the ability to work decisively under pressure while maintaining uncompromising safety standards.
