About this role

RMCI, part of the Nox Group family of construction enterprises, is looking for a Chief Estimator to lead their estimating function in Phoenix. This is a contract position based in the office, and it calls for someone with at least 10 years of estimating experience and 5 years managing estimators or similar teams. You'd be responsible for overseeing a team of estimators, developing accurate cost estimates for large-scale projects, and ensuring bids are competitive, complete, and delivered on time. The role sits at the intersection of operations and business development—your estimates directly influence which projects the company wins and how profitable they are.

Day-to-day, you'll oversee bid preparation, review project documentation and contracts, coordinate with project managers and engineers to gather estimating data, and work closely with the VP of Estimating on resource allocation and process improvements. You'll also establish workflows and standards for your team, participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits, and identify risks in estimates before they become problems. The position requires proficiency in estimating software like Sage, Accubid, or Bluebeam, strong Excel and Word skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

This role suits someone who combines technical estimating expertise with genuine leadership ability—someone who can mentor estimators, think strategically about process and growth, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and timeliness directly impact the bottom line. As a safety-sensitive position, you'll need to pass a drug test and background check.
