About this role
Working overnight shifts at Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists means joining Vermont's only 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital during its most demanding hours. This hybrid ER/ICU role requires you to move fluidly between the fast-paced emergency floor and dedicated ICU nursing unit, handling everything from patient triage and critical interventions to advanced procedures like CPR, phlebotomy, and anesthesia monitoring. You'll be responsible for both acute emergency care and ongoing hospitalization support, including patient admissions, discharges, and detailed medical record management.
The position calls for at least two years of veterinary hospital experience, with emergency background preferred. While CVT or LVT certification is preferred, it's not required—unlicensed technicians can apply at a lower pay tier. The role demands someone comfortable in high-acuity environments who can work collaboratively, communicate with clients about treatment costs, and maintain composure during overnight hours when the hospital's critical cases come through.
Compensation ranges from $26–$32 per hour for licensed technicians (with shift differentials for overnight work), plus solid benefits including medical and dental coverage, 401(k) matching, continuing education support, and license fee reimbursement. You'll also receive employee discounts on veterinary services and pet products. This is a genuine 24/7 specialty practice, not a smaller clinic, so expect consistent exposure to complex cases and the opportunity to develop advanced technical skills.
