About this role
Hotham Veterinary Services, part of Rarebreed Veterinary Partners, is seeking a mixed animal veterinarian for their Presque Isle practice. This role offers hands-on experience across both small and large animal medicine in a well-equipped two-location practice. You'll diagnose and treat a diverse caseload—from companion animals to equine patients (including dentistry, colic, and lameness work)—alongside dairy, beef, and camelid cases. The position includes collaborative opportunities with a team of four veterinarians, mentorship in specialized areas like equine dentistry if desired, and involvement in critical care cases.
The practice provides modern facilities at both sites, including ultrasound, full laboratory, digital radiology, and a maintained ambulatory unit for farm calls. You'll work with a strong support staff and have access to ongoing education and training. The compensation package is competitive, starting at $130K with a sign-on bonus up to $25K, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401K matching, paid time off, student loan repayment assistance, and mental health resources. There's also potential for equity or profit-sharing ownership down the line.
This is listed as an internship position and requires a DVM degree and Maine veterinary licensure. While two years of prior hospital experience and internship training are preferred, they're not required. The role suits someone ready to build clinical skills across multiple species in a supportive team environment.
