About this role
Upstream Rehabilitation's Journey program offers physical therapist assistants a structured way to work across the country without the typical instability of travel contracts. You'd deliver evidence-based outpatient orthopedic care across Upstream's network of over 1,200 clinics in 28 states, with assignment lengths typically lasting 13 weeks but flexible to 6 or 12 months. The role keeps you grounded through one consistent EMR system, standardized documentation, and continuous insurance coverage—meaning you won't restart your workflow or lose benefits between locations.
The compensation model combines competitive hourly pay with a monthly non-taxed housing stipend, travel reimbursement, assignment bonuses, and productivity incentives. You'll also receive standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and paid time off, plus student loan repayment opportunities and paid relocation days. Upstream guarantees full-time hours, eliminating the cancellation risk that often comes with traditional travel agencies.
This role suits PTAs who want geographic flexibility and new experiences but value job security and career continuity. You'll work within a large, established employer across respected regional brands like BenchMark, Results, and Drayer, with access to mentorship and continuing education. The option to transition into a permanent location remains available whenever you're ready to settle.
