About this role
Giga Energy is seeking a Switchboard Design Engineer to own the end-to-end customization and delivery of low-voltage switchboard designs for AI data center infrastructure. You'll translate customer specifications into detailed mechanical and electrical CAD drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with UL 891 standards and manufacturing feasibility. The role involves coordinating across product and engineering teams, troubleshooting production issues, and managing multiple concurrent projects in a remote-first setup (with occasional travel to Houston, Long Beach, or San Francisco hubs).
You'll need a degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering plus at least three years in sheet metal manufacturing, with demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks and a solid grasp of UL 891-compliant switchboard design. Strong communication skills are essential given the cross-timezone and international coordination this position demands. Experience with PDM systems, North American electrical standards, or modular data center products would strengthen your candidacy.
This is a contract role at a company operating at startup speed—expect a fast-paced environment where you'll see direct impact on shipped products without bureaucratic approval chains. If you're energized by infrastructure work that powers AI and comfortable moving quickly with incomplete information, this could be a strong fit.
